The setting for Blanket Bay alpine lodge is incredible. This is Lake Wakatipu at its most scenic with the contrasting colours of the blue lake and the brown of the mountains, still with snow on the tops. This landscape is on a truly magnificent scale and the architecture of the resort itself, finished with native timbers and local stone, magnifies and glorifies its setting.
Blanket Bay is definitely at the top end of the market, a sophisticated world-class international resort in its own right. It is remote from Queenstown (Glenorchy is 45 minutes by car, just minutes by helicopter) and there are no neighbours.
Blanket Bay provides an excellent base for the many activities available in the Queenstown district - heliskiing in winter, hiking, mountain biking, and fly fishing in the rivers and streams and from boats in the lake and "flightseeing". At the end of each day there's perfect peace in a perfect setting with attentive but discreet staff.
