Impressions of Voyages Longitude 131

Voyages Longitude 131 introduces the discerning traveller to a very unique Outback Experience! On arrival guests are met by the friendly and professional team and personally escorted to the Dune House which is the reception and central meeting area. The team then register guests and explain the various touring options available during their stay before being escorting to one of just 15 luxurious tents.

The distinctive theme of each tent is based on the explorers and pioneers of Australia who contributed to the local area. I stayed in the ‘Sidney Kidman’ tent and with its particular location offered privacy and 180 degrees of Uluru! The information about one of Australia’s great station owners was fascinating and combined with the tasteful décor and expansive views provided a special experience. From my bed I could watch the sunrise and sunset over Uluru while enjoying all the amenities of a five star resort!

All meals and beverages are included at Longitude and served in a communal style offering flexibility enabling guests to dine over a two hour period. The food is of a high standard based on contemporary Australian fare. My highlight was the ‘Dinner in the Desert Under the Stars’ which is offered to each guest for at least one of the nights during their stay (weather permitting). We were transferred to an elegantly decorated long dining table under the blanket of stars of an Outback Sky. The executive chef explained the dishes being served and accompanying wines which had been specially selected. After this excellent dining experience we enjoyed a talk by our guest astronomer and viewed the rings of Saturn by telescope which was fascinating.

The escorted touring programme is comprehensive and offers guests flexibility and a special experience in the Uluru and Kata Tjuta areas. Knowledgeable guides provide an overview of the unique flora and fauna of the region, the geological history relating to the rock formations and the traditions and history of the indigenous Anangu people who have been part of this land for over 40,000 years. The tour and transfers are shared with the other guests. Private touring can be arranged if requested but not encouraged.

Longitude 131 is a unique experience offering guests the opportunity to immerse themselves in this special environment whilst providing under-stated luxury blending well with this unique Australia Outback environment!
