The Indian Pacific Great Australian Rail Journey

The transcontinental Indian Pacific rail journey showcases the impressive vastness and beauty of the Australian Outback as it traverses the country from Ocean to Ocean.

The weekly (and twice weekly in peak season) service travels nearly 4500kms over 3 nights from Sydney, via Adelaide to Perth (or vice versa). Leaving Sydney's sparkling harbour behind you, the Indian Pacific travels through the Blue Mountains to the quintessential outback town of Broken Hill. Continuing on to Adelaide and beyond, the journey follows the world's longest straight stretch of railway track (478km) as it crosses the Nullarbor Desert with opportunities to see kangaroos and emus darting across the red outback plains and spot wedge tailed eagles soaring in the endless blue skies. Two further stops, in the remote outback post of Cook and the rich gold mining township of Kalgoorlie, provide the opportunity for some outback touring and an insight into life in the Australian outback before the blue waters stretch out in front of you again in Perth.

On board accommodation is provided in a variety of levels of comfort: the 'Red Service Daynighter Seats', the 'Gold Service' ensuite twin and single sleeper cabins or in the luxury of your own private carriage - with options to sleep up to 10 travellers in style.

Connections with The Legendary Ghan service (Adelaide to Darwin) are also possible from Adelaide.
