Marlborough

Welcome to the Great Outdoors where nature’s playground lends itself to a wide range of exciting adventures – on land, air and water.

Queenstown is without doubt New Zealand’s adventure capital – in addition to some of the nation’s best skiing and alpine hiking – bungy jumping, skydiving, whitewater rafting, jetboating, trout fishing, ballooning, canyoning, flightseeing, mountaineering and kayaking are all on offer.

Elsewhere around the country visitors can wallow in Rotorua’s therapeutic thermal mud baths, sail aboard the America’s Cup challenger yachts in Auckland, enjoy ballooning over the Canterbury plains, raft one of the countries renowned white water rafting rivers, explore the ice caves of Franz Josef Glacier, hike the dramatic Milford Sound, swim with seals off Kaikoura, kayak the sandy bays of Abel Tasman National Park or raft the inky blackness of the Waitomo Caves’ subterranean rivers. Dive the “Rainbow Warrior” wreck, capture sensational aerial views of Christchurch from a hot air balloon or try the new and obscure New Zealand sport of “zorbing”.

Cairns and Far North Queensland are Australia’s adventure capital – with whitewater rafting, bungy jumping, scuba diving and 4 wheel driving through the rainforest just waiting to be enjoyed.

However, the adventure doesn’t stop there. Climb the Sydney Harbour Bridge or jetboat under it, ride a camel in the outback or float over this spectacular landscape in a hot air balloon. Cycle through the Barossa Valley vineyards, learn to surf at Bell’s Beach or Bondi, sail in the Whitsundays, snorkel the Ningaloo Reef or abseil the Three Sisters. Horse ride through the Snowy Mountains high country, trek the Tasmanian wilderness, kayak the spectacular Katherine Gorge or sleep under the stars in the outback. Right across the continent a diversity of landscapes lends itself to a myriad of activities.

And although the lures of a Pacific Island often turn towards less active pursuits, there is no shortage of action and adventure to be found in these destinations: kayaking in the Cook Islands, sailing in Tahiti, swimming with the humpback whales in Tonga, surfing in Samoa or horse riding on the beach in Fiji.
