Moorea is the closest island to Tahiti and less than 20 kms across the 'Sea of the Moon' from Papeete with its distinct geography clearly visible. Regular flights operate from Faa Airport in Papeete (approximately every 30 minutes) and frequent fast ferry sailings depart from the 'Quai' in downtown Papeete. Moorea has dramatic mountain peaks with thick lush tropical vegetation which almost leap out of the clear lagoon which surrounds it. There are nice beaches ideal for swimming, good restaurants and a wide choice of accommodation is available from stylish resorts to moderately priced boutique properties. There are pleasant walks, great scuba diving and snorkelling and Moorea is ideal for cycling around. Horse riding, game fishing and parasailing is also available.
