Cradle Mountain Lodge is a warm retreat nestled high in the Tasmanian wilderness, a superb escape featuring 86 cosy cabins, fine food and wine and many activities.
Cradle Mountain Lodge is a unique wilderness retreat on the edge of the World Heritage Listed Cradle Mountain/Lake St. Clair National Park.
Here you see the face of creation all around you in the mirror lakes and rugged mountain peaks. You don’t need to be an environmentalist to feel humble in the towering presence of a King Billy Pine – over 1,000 years old yet still a relative newcomer to these ancient forests.
The Lodge has an ambience of warmth and security that welcomes you to every room. Perhaps it’s the glow of the open fires that keeps drawing you back or those quiet moments in the Guest’s Lounge, catching up on local lore and history. Then of course there’s the temptation of the Highland Restaurant and its walk-in Wine Cellar. Or perhaps the mood calls for a less formal meal in the Tavern Bar, a great place to share your adventures with new friends.
Inside your cabin you’ll immediately feel at home. The layout is generous, comfortable and more than a touch romantic.
Flora, Fauna & Wildlife A natural world of breathtaking wilderness surrounds Cradle Mountain, where native myrtle forests give way to flowering snow gums and ancient Pencil Pines line the icy river. Wallabies, wombats, echidna, platypus, possums and a stunning collection of birdlife are some of the neighbours who may greet you on the trails and boardwalks that surround the lodge.
Hiking & Walking More than 20 guided walks and self-guided tracks and boardwalks, ranging from 20 minutes to 9 hours, showcase the majestic beauty of this true wilderness region. Cradle Mountain is also the gateway to one of Australia’s most famous and well rewarded walks, the stunning 6-day (65km) Overland Track.
Soft Adventure As nature abounds, so too do the adventures surrounding Cradle Mountain lodge. Fly fishing and canoeing on the icy glacial lakes in summer, tobogganing and snow shuttles in the winter months; as well as year round mountain biking, bushwalking and horse riding through the breathtaking wilderness.
Spa's Nothing revives your body or relaxes your mind like a visit to the Waldheim Alpine Spa. The extensive spa menu features unique rituals incorporating ingredients from the surrounding wilderness such as lemon scented tea tree extracts, eucalyptus oils and chilled Pencil Pine River stones. Whilst the hot tub, plunge pool, massage tables and relaxation Sanctuary all overlook the untamed bushland and the icy cool rivers below.
Honeymoons Romantic nights in by the open fire, luxurious spa treatments designed for two, an open air hot tub on your private balcony and plenty of places for just the two of you to escape to.
